6 Reasons using WordPress is a good idea

It’s Monday again and as usual, I’ll be putting my thoughts out there on a specific topic. As you can tell from the title I’m going to attempt to lay out 6 Reasons using WordPress is a good idea.

Your business can have a blog

Your business can finally have a blog. In a previous article called Why content can make or break a website” I had stated that “Blogging is hard, but the simple fact is that people search the internet for answers to their questions. In the case of a swimming expert I might Google something like “How to get rid of green swimming pool water?” Assuming you have a post on the matter and Google deems you an authority on swimming pools over time you will be my goto website on that matter. Assuming I have another question in regard to a pool issue and your site has a solution I will revisit since you presumably solved my previous issue so as a user I consider you an authority because I found value in your content.” The point of the statement was to prove that quality content brings visitors to your website and that having a blog is important.

WordPress constantly updates itself for safety and security.

WordPress always updates in an attempt to fix potential security holes. This is a great plus for any Content Management System.

WordPress is open source

This mostly helps developers. “Open source” simply means that developers are able to contribute to WordPress’ software in the form of plugins, themes and updates. How does that benefit you? The system is constantly improving and getting better, and a new addition doesn’t cost you a cent assuming you can write code.

WordPress is SEO friendly

SEO, or search engine optimization, refers to the idea of making your website more searchable by engines like Google and Yahoo. It’s a whole other science but WordPress has plugins that make it easier and more user-friendly.

WordPress is not new

WordPress has been around since 2004 if memory serves. Being older makes us wiser. Similarly, an older software with a track-record like WordPress makes it an ideal choice.

Coding for WordPress is standard for any web developer

One of the reasons WordPress is so great is that it’s become such a popular choice any web developer knows how to code for it. Whenever a problem pops up that you can’t fix, or you decide to redesign your website’s look, any developer will be able to get the job done.
