Does the use of video help your business?

It’s Monday again and as usual I’ll be exposing my thoughts on a specific topic. As you can tell from the title I’m going to attempt to show that video helps Your business. As always this is not an exhaustive list but just my thoughts on the topic.
1. Boosts Conversions and Sales
Simply put conversion is trying to invoke a visitor to take a specific desired action. On a blog it might mean enticing a visitor is subscribe to a mailing list. With an online store obviously, you would most likely want a visitor to become a buying customer. Video helps make that process occur faster. Read More on the topic in a previous article titled “What is conversion and why should you care?”
2. Video Builds Trust
Another simple point worth mentioning is proof. To be more specific, whatever the product or service you are selling is, can be enhanced as an offering when one adds video to the mix just because it should showcase the features and functionality of the product or service. Show me that it does what I want makes me more inclined to buy it.
3. Search Engines Love Videos
Our friends the search-engines love video. Videos allow you to increase the time spent by visitors on your site. Thus, longer exposure builds trust and signals search engines that your site has good content.
4. Video Appeals to Mobile Users
Video and mobile go hand in hand. 90% of consumers watch videos on their mobile. From Q3 of 2013, mobile video views have grown more than 233 percent. YouTube reports mobile video consumption rises 100% every year. Since people like to watch videos on the go, and the number of smartphone users is growing, your video audience keeps getting bigger and bigger.
5. Video Can Explain Everything Much Faster
Some products need to be explained for us to see the value in them. There are many sponges in the world that you can wash dishes with, right? But proving that my sponge is better would require me to somehow prove that, for example, it is scratch free. Me saying that, does not make it true. Creating a video where I try scratching the surface using the sponge, does. Proof is instant.
6. Video Engages Even the Laziest Buyers
Information describing any product or service is important. Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t take the time to read that information. Unless you are looking for a very specific technical specification they probably won’t read that information. They look at the price and if it’s affordable they will buy it assuming they need it. Now if you add a video to that product or service you will notice that people most probably click the video rather than reach the bottom of the product details.
7. Video Encourages Social Shares
Social networks encourage video content with their new features. Facebook has launched 3600 Video, Live Video, and Lifestage (A Video-Centric App for Teenagers). Instagram put in place 60-Second Videos & Instagram Stories, Twitter has Periscope. And YouTube is the second most popular social network and search-engine in the world. As such videos encourage social shares.
If you find these tasks daunting, you need to get a professional to do them for you or help you through the process of creating the video content needed to promote and expand your business. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at info@georgenicolaou.me
